Treating Arthritis In The Natural Way

There are two known treatments for arthritis. One is through medication, and the other is through surgical options.

Medication therapy has three primary goals in dealing with the disease: to treat the swelling associated with the increase in synovial fluid, to numb the pain caused by dead cells attacking the cartilage which subsequently releases pain hormones and to slow down the inflammatory process.

Sometimes the patient hears a noisy grinding sound out of the movement of joints that are affected with arthritis. Because of the absence of a protective cartilage, the ends of the bones at the joint rub each other during movement. Overtime, as with machines, the constant friction wears away the ends of the bones. This, in turn, causes a grinding noise in the joints during movement. This noise is called crepitus.

The most common medications are: Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). Under normal conditions, an inflammatory response is supposed to aid the healing process of any injury in the body. However, under an uncontrolled and frenzied autoimmune inflammatory response, more harm is done in the body than good. Besides the negative effects of dead cells in the body, pain associated with inflammation is the very source of discomfort among those who are afflicted with arthritis. This is where the function of NSAIDs becomes significant.

NSAIDs work by targeting and blocking prostaglandins that are hormone like substances that trigger inflammation and pain thereby reducing inflammation in the joints and relieving pain. NSAID’s are either prescription drugs or over-the-counter (OCT medicines). Examples of NSAIDs are Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Naproxen. These drugs, however, causes stomach upset and gastrointestinal bleeding sometimes. Patients over the age of 60 are more likely to be affected by these. It is therefore advised, that people who take NSAIDs at elevated doses (the dose necessary to reduce inflammation) should take them under the supervision of a doctor. NSAIDs do have their own serious side effects, so the best treatment options is to go with herbal remedies. Salveo Life Sciences has formulated naturalremedies for arthritis, that has capabilities to treat and control future growth of this disorder.
