Natural Ways to treat Indigestion

Indigestion is also known as dyspepsia in medical terms. You may experience different symptoms like abdominal pain, growling symptoms, gas, bloating, acidic taste, a distinct burning sensation especially in the upper abdomen and in certain cases even vomiting. The problem can further increase due to certain stomach infection, thyroid problem, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, stress, anxiety, ulcers, smoking and also due to the side effects of certain medicines. But the most common reason that is seen is due to eating excessive spicy as well as fatty food or in some cases due to over-eating.

Unless the condition is very serious, it is possible to get relief from acidity and treat indigestion with natural ingredients available at you home.

Apple cider vinegar: This ingredient is especially effective to boost a slow stomach since it has amazing alkalizing properties. It therefore helps in treating indigestion. Making a solution of a spoonful of raw honey, water and apple cider vinegar and consuming it two to three times a day effectively helps in getting relief from the problem.


Fennel seeds: These are rich in volatile oil that helps in lowering nausea and also controls flatulence. These seeds are especially helpful in curing indigestion that is caused due to the consumption of spicy or fatty food. Dry roast and grind fennel seed and mix the powder in a glass of water and consume it twice daily.

Ginger: This wonderful ingredient enhances the flow of enzymes as well as stimulates the digestive juices that help in the digestion process. It is wonderfully effective in order to cure indigestion due to over-eating.

Herbal tea: Drinking herbal tea after a heavy meal can help in improving digestion. Chamomile tea or Peppermint flavoured tea is especially helpful in treating the problem.

The numerous home remedies for indigestion are definitely better than over the counter medicines since these have no side effects.
