Why Does Your Back Hurt?

Have you been neglecting the pain in your back for quite some time? Try not to overlook, find time to understand the pain in order to manage it.

Most back pain is felt in the lower back region either constant at one region or radiating to other parts of the body. On occasion it is a dull pain, at other times it may be a sharp piercing pain radiating to the limbs. The acute pain is one of the common reasons for visiting the physician.

According to a research 9 out of 10 people in their lifetime have experienced back pain. Back pain is generally categorized as acute pain, sub-acute pain and chronic pain. The acute pain lasts for about 12 weeks and chronic pain extends beyond 12 weeks.
Stress, pulled muscle, muscle spasm are the common reasons of lower back pain. In addition poor physical exercise, in appropriate posture, obesity, genetic factors are also responsible for the same. It is also known to be associated with some health condition and diseases such as Spondylosis, Scoliosis and Arthritis.

Back pain is generally self-limiting and does not require immediate medical attention but severe pain maybe an indication of the underlying medical complication and require the medical attention. Whenever pain doenot improve with rest, there is numbness or tingling sensation or find trouble during urinating, it’s time to consult the physician.

Hot and cold packs, Muscle relaxants, over the counter medicines, non-steroidal anti –inflammatory drugs are helpful in managing the non-specific pain. But a natural approach in management of pain is always more effective and ensures long term relief without any side effects.
